Raise Your Support

Ideas, Inspiration, and Tools for Christian Workers Who Raise Ministry Support

Blogs on Partnership Development Worth Reading

There are a number of websites and blogs with excellent resources and ideas for people who have a passion for developing not just donors, but true partners in ministry.

Here are a number that I follow, and that I recommend.

Dr. Steve Shadrach has a passion for developing laborers for Christ to reach the world.

He has been involved with Campus Crusade, The Navs, and as head counselor with Kanakuk Kamps. He served as Pastor of Students and Missions at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville, AR.

He is the founder of Student Mobilization, which focuses on evangelizing and discipling college students in the U.S. and abroad, The Traveling Team, and The Bodybuilders ministry, seeking to "build up the body of Christ" through the development of seminars and publications.

From 2004-2012 he served as the Director of Mobilization for the U.S. Center for World Mission, including the oversight of the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement study program.  He is currently the executive director for the Center for Mission Mobiliation.

He and his wife Carol reside in Fayetteville, Arkansas, have five grown children, one grandson, Shad William McClure, and twin granddaughters on the way!

He and and several other trainers in partnership development blog at the Support Raising Solutions website.

todd-eckhardt-1Rev. Todd Eckhardt is the Vice-President of Homeland Ministries for World Gospel Mission. He has served in ministry for more than 20 years. During this time he has pastored, taught and headed up mobilization and funding for WGM. In the past several years Todd has been trained in the principles of Transformational Giving and now trains missionaries and church leaders in these principles.

Todd blogs in the application of Transformational Giving Principles at the "Lessons from Zarapheth" blog.

He is also a regular contributer to articles on this website.

bill dillonBill Dillon is the Founder of Inner City Impact and has served for over 40 years as Executive Director. His family has been an integral part of urban ministry in Chicago since 1918 (three generations) and he has over 40 years of fund raising experience.

Bill has authored People Raising: a Practical Guide to Raising Support, now in a 14th printing, and does fund raising consulting through People Raising.

Bill is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Elmhurst College and earned his MBA from Murray State University. He and his wife Sandy, have three children.

Bill has been speaking and writing about raising ministry support for a long time, and he has a huge archive of articles and tips that is rich "how-to" library of ideas.

BeaFullyFundedMissionary.com is devoted to providing the resources missionaries need to raise the missions support necessary to carry out their missionary.

So many missionaries start at 0% and don’t get much farther. Some get to 40%, or some other plateau, and then they eventually give up.  Sadly, the missionaries who get to 100% fast often find that the support fizzles out after a few years.

Be a Fully Funded Missionary is a specific system that missionaries can use to raise support, so that they will be a fully funded missionary.

And the website has a lot of great articles written by Darius Walker (pseudonym). Darius has served, and may continue to serve, in security sensitive areas, and so a pen name is necessary so that his real name is not linked to Christian missions on the internet.

Why did he choose the name “Darius Walker”? Darius, in Ezra 6, was used by God to provide the material goods to carry out God’s work. This Darius likewise hopes that Be a Fully Funded Missionary results in meeting the material needs to carry out God’s work.

He and Dr. Foley oversee a far-flung staff in the US and across Asia that is working to help North Koreans and Christians everywhere grow to fullness in Christ.

He is also the Dean of Underground University, a missionary training college for North Koreans. He is committed to equipping North Korean church leaders for comprehensive underground Christian service.

Most recently, he has focused on teaching Christians in countries with freedom of religion how to adopt the discipleship practices of the North Korean underground church.

paul-yoderPaul Yoder is the programmer behind Donor Elf, a very nice, subcription based, web based donor tracking program.

He also blogs regularly about fund raising, donor communications, as well as tips on how to use his software well.

In particular, he has an excellent series of tips on writing prayer letters / newsletters / etc., and other elements of effective ministry partner communication.

Jeff-Barry-300x232Jerry Linden and Barry McLeish are the authors of Partners for Life, and excellent book on support raising (read more about this "must-have" book here.)

They also run a website with an online training course (read more about that here), and they blog regularly with excellent tips and suggestions for great partner relations.

The blog is well worth visiting ... it's an excellent library of material for both the veteran and the person new to raising support.

The eQuipping for eMinistry by Sus Schmitt of Cru (among others) is an excellent source of information on how to use websites, emails, blogs, social networks, and other electronic tools for ministry.  She has a major section on this site relating to MPD (Ministry Partner Development / Discover) and is well worth following.

Although primarily geared for Cru staff, there is a lot of good ideas and tips in here that all can benefit from.
